Always achieving our potential
Welcome all
This Autumn we have took this time to think deeply about our successes from last year and refine what we do really well. Alongside this we have shaped our future school improvements based on our latest inspection report and internal audits taken place. Following on from this Eleana O’Hare has been really busy ensuring that all classes have consistent communication boxes, symbols and resources in place to guarantee that all pupils are being taught to communicate as effectively as possible, using a range of different interventions matched to their level of need.

As usual the Autumn term has been a very busy term with lots of events happening across school, highlights being the Annual Harvest Festival Service and Christingle at St Mary’s Church, the McMillian Coffee morning, Ashby Fair, Carnival Day for Black History Month and Science week In addition to this each class has hosted a ‘stay and play’ or ‘stay and learn’ for parents in their class and parents have also been invited into school for forums on sensory processing, reading, and an anti-bulling assembly. Just before half term we held parent’s evening and it was lovely to see so many parents and carers attend and have the opportunity to peruse their child’s books, and get an insight into the learning and progress that takes place at Fountains Primary School. Parents were also warmly welcomed into school for our Christmas production, which was a great success.
This year, it has been decided that the pupils at Fountains Primary School will all have one extended day until 530pm. This is to ensure that our pupils who live further away have an opportunity to attend an after school event. This has been well received by pupils, parents and staff.

It is important that we celebrate both staff and pupil success within our school. A huge well done to Viola Jankovics who won the Communication Award at Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) in September 2024. Viola has just completed her apprenticeship as a Teaching Assistant at Fountains Primary School and BSDC nominated her for this award due to her exemplary communication with pupils, peers and staff around her, Well done Viola! Another fantastic achievement this term is from Vicki Appleby, who successfully completed her Foundation degree in Education in Summer 2024. Vicki is an outstanding practitioner and taught in Early years classes for many years. Well deserved Vicki and we are all excited for your bright future ahead.
This term, one of our new teachers, Hannah Knight, was filmed for a for the Nottingham Trent University ITT programme. The video showcases what it is like to work in a SEND school and provides information about how it may differ from a mainstream school and inspires trainee teachers to take this path during their placements or once they graduate. We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all the children, parents and carers, staff, Full Governing Body, The Esteem Multi Academy Trust and the Trustee’s/members of our MAT for their contribution to the successful outcome of the inspection and for their continued support they provide the school community in enabling us to ensure the children achieve their full potential. This term we said goodbye to Alex Scanlon and Munib Hussain who have been community Governors for the last two years. We would like to say a big thank you to them for their support and contributions as Governors.

Finally, we would like to wish all of our school community a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Happy Holidays all!
